The Problem

Why Play Store screenshot sizes trip up Android launches

Google Play is more flexible than the App Store — there is no fixed list of device sizes — but the flexibility hides three common failures: uploading an image outside the 320–3840px range, using an aspect ratio Google rejects, or exporting a PNG with an alpha channel.

Tablet slots are the second trap. If you declare tablet support and leave the 7-inch or 10-inch slots empty or filled with stretched phone images, the listing looks unfinished on tablets and Chromebooks, and Google may not surface your app in tablet-optimized placements.

AppLaunchFlow keeps every Play Console dimension in the editor. Select phone, 7-inch tablet, 10-inch tablet, or Chromebook targets, design once, and export exact pixel sizes as JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no manual resizing.

Google Play screenshot sizes by device type

All screenshots must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha), 320–3840px per side, with the long side at most twice the short side. 2–8 screenshots per device type.

Reference

Complete 2026 Google Play screenshot size reference

Phone screenshots: Google Play requires 2 to 8 screenshots. Each must be a JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha), between 320px and 3840px on each side, with the long side no more than twice the short side. In practice that means 16:9 or 9:16. Recommended portrait exports are 1080×1920 (16:9 phones), 1080×2340 (modern 19.5:9 phones), and 1440×3120 (high-density flagships). For tablet-optimized placements Google recommends at least 4 screenshots at 1080px or more on the short side.

7-inch tablet screenshots: up to 8 in the dedicated 7-inch slot. 1200×1920 portrait or 1920×1200 landscape are the standard exports; the same 320–3840px and 2:1 ratio rules apply.

10-inch tablet screenshots: up to 8 in the 10-inch slot. Use 1600×2560 portrait, 2560×1600 landscape, or 1920×1200 for a 16:10 layout. Google needs tablet screenshots for both slots before it treats your listing as tablet-ready.

Show more detail

Chromebook screenshots: landscape 16:9 images such as 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 for apps that run on ChromeOS. Optional unless you target Chromebooks, but they replace stretched phone screenshots in the ChromeOS Play Store.

Feature graphic: exactly 1024×500 pixels, JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha. It is required before a promo video appears on your listing and is used in featured and recommendation placements, where Google crops it and may overlay a play button in the center.

App icon: 512×512 pixels, 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1 MB. Upload a full-bleed square; Google applies rounded masking itself, so do not bake corners or drop shadows into the file.

Promo video: a YouTube URL (public or unlisted, ads disabled, not age-restricted). Landscape orientation, 30 seconds to 2 minutes recommended. The video shows on your listing only when a feature graphic is uploaded.

AppLaunchFlow builds all of these dimensions into one project: design the Play Store screenshot story once, select phone, tablet, and Chromebook targets, add the matching 1024×500 feature graphic, and export everything sized for the Play Console upload slots.

How It Works

Correctly sized Play Store screenshots in three steps

Get started in minutes with our simple workflow

1

Select your Android targets

Choose phone, 7-inch tablet, 10-inch tablet, or Chromebook. The editor sets up canvases inside Google's 320–3840px and 16:9 / 9:16 rules.

2

Design your screenshot set

Pick a template, drop in real screens, and refine captions and device frames. The same story adapts to each tablet ratio without stretching.

3

Export for Play Console

Batch-export JPEG or 24-bit PNG files at every selected size, plus the matching 1024×500 feature graphic, ready for each Play Console upload slot.

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about google play screenshot sizes

Google Play screenshots are JPEG or 24-bit PNG files between 320px and 3840px per side with a 16:9 or 9:16 aspect ratio; upload 2–8 per device type. Use 1080×1920 or 1080×2340 for phones, 1200×1920 for 7-inch tablets, 1600×2560 for 10-inch tablets, and a 1024×500 feature graphic. AppLaunchFlow exports all of them from one design.

What size are Play Store screenshots?
Google Play screenshots must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha), between 320px and 3840px on each side, with the long side no more than twice the short side (16:9 or 9:16). The most common phone exports are 1080×1920 and 1080×2340 portrait; 1440×3120 is a high-density option.
How many screenshots does Google Play require?
At least 2 and at most 8 screenshots per device type: phone, 7-inch tablet, 10-inch tablet, and Chromebook each have their own slots. Google recommends at least 4 screenshots at 1080px or more on the short side to qualify for tablet-optimized placements.
How can I resize screenshots for Google Play?
Don't stretch raw captures — export at a Play-accepted size instead. Keep the 16:9 or 9:16 ratio, stay between 320px and 3840px per side, and save as JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency. AppLaunchFlow renders every phone, tablet, and Chromebook size from one design, so you never resize by hand.
What size do App Store screenshots need to be?
Apple's App Store uses fixed sizes per device instead of Google's ranges: 1320×2868 (6.9-inch iPhone), 1290×2796 (6.7-inch), 1242×2688 (6.5-inch), and 2064×2752 for 13-inch iPad. See the App Store screenshot sizes guide for the full table; AppLaunchFlow exports both stores from the same project.
What is the Play Store feature graphic size?
The Google Play feature graphic is exactly 1024×500 pixels, uploaded as JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha. It is required before a promo video shows on your listing and is used in featured placements, where Google crops it and may overlay a play button.
What are the Google Play tablet screenshot sizes?
Tablet screenshots follow the same 320–3840px and 2:1 ratio limits as phones. Typical exports are 1200×1920 (7-inch portrait), 1920×1200 (7-inch or 10-inch landscape), and 1600×2560 or 2560×1600 for 10-inch tablets.
Does Google Play accept PNG screenshots with transparency?
No. Screenshots and the feature graphic must be 24-bit PNG or JPEG with no alpha channel. Only the 512×512 app icon is uploaded as a 32-bit PNG with alpha.
What are the Google Play promo video requirements?
Add a public or unlisted YouTube URL (ads disabled, not age-restricted). Use landscape orientation and keep it between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. The video is displayed only when a 1024×500 feature graphic is also uploaded.
What size is the Google Play app icon?
512×512 pixels, 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1 MB. Upload a full-bleed square without rounded corners or shadows; Google applies its own mask.
Can I reuse my App Store screenshots on Google Play?
Yes, if you re-export them. iPhone sizes such as 1320×2868 are outside Google's 16:9 / 9:16 ratio guidance, so adapt the layout to an Android phone canvas like 1080×2340. AppLaunchFlow carries the same screenshot story onto Play Store canvases and exports both stores from one project.
